Vincent Whannou de Bravo wins best student paper at CVCS
Vincent Whannou de Bravo (second cohort) presented the paper “Stress for dehazing” at the 2015 Colour and Visual Computing Symposium. This paper won the best student paper at the conference. “Stress for dehazing” is based on Vincent’s master thesis, carried out at Gjøvik University College in the spring semester of 2015. The paper is co-authored by his master thesis supervisor Prof. Jon Yngve Hardeberg. We congratulate Vincent on his achievement.
3DMT at CVCS
Vincent Whannou de Bravo (second cohort), Marion Blancher (third cohort), and Bacary Goudiaby (third cohort) attended the 2015 Colour and Visual Computing Symposium (www.colourlab.no/cvcs) in Gjøvik the 25th and 26th of August 2015. Vincent presented the paper “Stress for dehazing”, which is based on this his master thesis.
Master thesis defense – cohort 2

Still chance to apply for a master in 3D multimedia technology
You can still apply for the master program in 3D multimedia program. Potential applicants should follow the admission procedure described at http://master-3dmt.eu/?page_id=30 . Deadline for non-EU applicants is te 31st of March 2015, and the deadline for EU applicants is the 30th of May 2015. We are looking forward to your application.
Coming to University Jean Monnet
We have now updated the webpage with information for those students already selected for 3DMT next fall. The information will help you to organize everything before and after arrival in Saint-Etienne. It covers everything from housing, banking services, visa, travel arrangements and more. Master thesis 2015: Ani Khachatryan
Ani Khachatryan is currently doing her master thesis. The topic of the thesis is “depth perception in virtual environments”. The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of factors such as, different colors, different geometrical figures, shadows, lightning, size, on human’s depth perception. The results will be based on observers’ depth perception.
Master thesis 2015: Margarita Khokhlova
Margarita Khokhlova is currently doing her master thesis on design, implementation and test of an algorithm dedicated to hierarchical image segmentation with particular attention to the computational cost. Working title for her master thesis is simply “Hierarchical Image Segmentation”.
Master thesis 2015: Limamou Gueye
Limamou Gueye is currently carrying out his master thesis at C.R.E.A.T.I.S (https://www.creatis.insa-lyon.fr/site/en), the biomedical imaging research laboratory of INSA, France. The topic is “machine learning and level set segmentation for spinal cord detection”.The goal of the work is, in the first step, to develop a robust machine learning algorithm to detect the spinal cord by using 3D and 2D MRI images. In the second step, the level set method will be used for the segmentation of the white and gray matter of the spinal cord after being detected. The objective is to detect anomalies in the spinal cord in order to treat them by doctors.
Master thesis 2015: Matthieu Hog
3DMT master student Matthieu Hog is currently doing his master thesis at Gjøvik University College in collaboration with Technicolor in France. Matthieu is working on designing and implementing an algorithm for image refocusing with data acquired with a plenoptic camera. The refocusing algorithm, that is going to be used after the snapshot, will use the depth estimation of the scene or a good approximation of it. The idea is to improve the state-of-the-art by providing refocused images without image artefacts.
Master thesis 2015: Vincent Jacob Whannou de Bravo
3DMT student Vincent Jacob Whannou de Bravo from the second cohort is currently doing his master thesis at Gjøvik University College. His thesis is titled “Dehazing with STRESS”, and he is working on developing a new algorithm to remove fog from images. Vincent will be using the STRESS framework, proposed by Kolås et al, to remove fog and enhance the image.
